DIY wreaths are ever-so-popular right now, as you can tell from one glance at Pinterest. I couldn’t hold myself back and jumped on the bandwagon. Easter is right around the corner, along with SPRINGTIME! I’m so ready for warmer weather that I’m hoping my new wreath acts as a little present to the Sun God and it comes a little more quickly. Just kidding. Kind-of.
I grabbed a styrofoam wreath, a rabbit and eggs on sticks, craft paper I had on hand, and wired ribbon for my wreath. I figured I would wing it…and actually, I’m very happy with how it turned out!
First, I wrapped the styrofoam wreath in yarn. I then hot glued the end of the yarn to secure. The bunny and eggs were all on sticks, so I positioned them how I wanted and popped them into the foam. I hot glued around the edge to secure them. Next, paper flowers!
These are so easy it’s almost ridiculous I didn’t know how before I looked it up. You start by cutting an imperfect circle out of the paper.
- Roll into a tight coil from the outside in
Once you get a bunch of circles and the spirals cut, you can multitask and rolls paper flowers like an expert! Hold them together to glue at the bottom, then hot glue or use craft glue to attach them to the yarn on the wreath. Throw on a ribbon and you’re done!
I discovered a genius way to hang my new wreath on Pinterest. Just attach a Command hook upside down to the inside of the door you want to hang it on and hang the ribbon that’s attached to the wreath. We have a storm door, so this was perfect!
I will probably play with this wreath a little and add some more flowers, leaves, moss, etc. It’s a fun and simple project that you can add to anytime.
